King Corn

Sponsored by KBCS 91.3FM and KCTS9 TV
(Aaron Woolf, USA, 2006, DVD)
Two friends from the big city plant a single acre of the
nation's most powerful crop, corn, and then follow it from
seed to the dinner plate. John Hartl of the Seattle Times
calls KING CORN, "simultaneously nostalgic and sinister."
Part horror film and part documentary, KING CORN exposes the
truth behind what you're eating. Have you been wondering why
Americans are so overweight? Or why certain foods are so
cheap? Have you heard our average life expectancy is headed
down, not up? Find out why! To RSVP call 800-930-6060 and

January 1: New Year's Day "Catch and Release" Party!
736 N. 90th St, Seattle (The Raw Girl's House)
3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Out of the
previous evening's Completion conversation, what might
naturally arise is a desire to be rid of things that no
longer serve you or are now complete with and want to
release. This may include anything from clothes to
knick-knacks, appliances, books, or movies... even things
that have been sentimental to you in the past but you no
longer find a need for. Whatever these "things" are -
you are welcome to bring them to our house to share with the
community - out with the old - in with the new!
Please note that this is not a "junk dumping" session -
bring things that you think may be useful to other people in
your community. Any items left over will be donated to
charity. We are also requesting a few volunteers to
help take carloads of stuff away at the end of the giveaway.
Also, please feel free to bring raw snacks to share!

November 18: Special Thanksgiving Event for the Raw
Community: Creating Abundance
736 N 90th St., Seattle, WA (The
Raw Girls' House)
12:00 - 4:00p.m.
Please join Monika Kinsman, the
Executive Director and Founder of Raw
Network of Washington for a special Thanksgiving event and
introduction to the
Landmark Forum.
Sunday's conversation is designed to make THE difference and
give you some food for thought as we enter the Thanksgiving
holiday. Are giving and receiving really one in the same?
What is abundance? Why do some people seem to have more
than others? What is gratitude? How can I express my
gratitude in a way that leaves others with the experience of
being fully appreciated and loved? Explore these
questions and how they impact our lives while learning more
about the Landmark Forum and the profound difference this
education can make in areas of life that are important to
you. Come see what difference a new paradigm for abundance
and gratitude can make in the quality of your relationships,
the confidence with which you conduct your life, and the
experience of the difference you make.
This special event will be an afternoon to remember, and
Monika's COMMITMENT for this event is that ALL GUESTS, each
and every one, leave the event having created a NEW
POSSIBILITY for themselves in an area of life that is
important to them that will touch, move, and inspire them as
they enter the holiday season.
:::::EXTREMELY IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ:::::
Event Logistics: From 12:00 to 1:00, there will an optional
mini raw potluck. Come share lunch with friends and others
in the raw community before the conversation begins! Please
note that those who wish to stay for the abundance/gratitude
conversation and introduction to the Landmark Forum are
being asked by the event host to stay the full three hours,
AND to arrive on time! There is no cost for this event, but
an RSVP is required to confirm your space.
DUE TO SPACE CONSTRAINTS, THERE IS
A LIMIT OF 20 GUESTS

out of the event. If you RSVP YES or MAYBE, please email

Matt Monarch - Raw Spirit
14500 Juanita Dr. NE,
Kenmore, WA (Bastyr University Auditorium) 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Join Raw Network of Washington for a special night with special guest Matt Monarch, author of Raw Spirit. Matt Monarch is 100% raw vegan; his diet consists of only raw vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and seaweeds. He has been eating this way for six years and enjoys extraordinary good health, bountiful energy, clarity of mind and a deepened connection to nature.
Prior to going raw, Matt worked in a demanding corporate environment and ate a standard American bachelor's diet, including cooked meats, dairy, bread, greasy foods and candy. Despite this, when he went raw, his overall health was good - other than a few pimples, he was in great shape. Matt did not go raw therefore to relieve any major health issues - he simply received and whole-heartedly embraced the raw lifestyle as something that made complete sense to him. He was particularly attracted to the fact that this lifestyle offered increased longevity and freedom from degenerative disease.
Matt dove head-first into a 100% raw vegan lifestyle after reading Dr Norman Walker's classic raw food book 'Become Younger'. His initial detox and weight loss concerned family and friends, but he was fascinated with this new way of living and persisted. Matt's interest led him to thoroughly research the many different ideologies in the raw movement and delve into his own experiments. He was most impressed by the work of raw food pioneer and 50 year nutritionist Dr Fred Bisci, PhD. After meeting at a raw food festival in Oregon, Matt and Fred went on to forge a strong friendship together. They then co-created www.TheRawFoodWorld.com as a resource centre of tools to help people live free from degenerative disease. They are dedicated to sourcing and providing the best products available. www.LivingNutritionals.com was also created as a separate venture by Matt to reach out to those beyond the raw community who are interested in nutrition but are not necessarily motivated to go raw at this stage.
After five years of eating a 100% raw food diet, Matt was inspired to write a book called Raw Spirit. He wanted to share information that he thought needed to be out there, reflecting in particular on some of the physical challenges of going raw, along with the amazing shifts he experienced on the spiritual level with this lifestyle. Raw Spirit has become one of the best-selling raw books available: people appreciate Matt's honest approach and his willingness to discuss aspects of being raw that often go unmentioned. He is committed to the raw lifestyle and passionate about spreading this message of health to others. Born and raised in California, he now travels all over the world, lecturing on raw foods and exploring the delights of fresh raw produce in different locations. He inspires audiences with his enthusiasm and simple, accessible approach to going raw in a healthy and sustainable way and is sought after as a speaker at raw gatherings.

Kenmore, WA
(Bastyr University) 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Join Raw Network of Washington for a special
showing of Supercharge Me!
30 Days Raw with Q&A from our Special Guest Filmmaker Jenna Norwood. Supercharge Me! is one
of the most talked-about documentaries this year. In March, Supercharge
Me! won "Best Motivational Film" at the first-ever Raw Lifestyle
Film Festival in Hollywood, California after already having won the
"Best

This independent documentary film is the story of one young woman's
lifelong dream: to dress up as a Las Vegas showgirl for Halloween. That
dream met bulging reality in the mirror, but she was determined to make
her dream come true by spending 30 days eating only vegan, raw, organic
food and learning a new lifestyle. The "rawcumentary" is the healthy
answer to "Super Size Me," the documentary by Morgan Spurlock who ate
only McDonald's food for 30 days and suffered the consequences.
Emmy Award-winning TV producer John Biffar called the film not only
entertaining and engaging, " ... but one that does what few films can
... make you a different person by the time the credits roll." Ben
Vereen said, "I love it!" Praise comes also from Chris Haley,
nephew of author Alex Haley (Roots) and Director of the Utopia Film
Festival in Greenbelt, Maryland. When "Supercharge Me!" was screened
there, Haley termed it "not only a crowd-please
r, but it sparked action
on many of its viewers to get out and immediately ravage some raw
foods!"
"Supercharge Me!" tells the
transformational story of independent producer Jenna Norwood. Her Las
Vegas dream took her on an odyssey from Sarasota, Florida to San Diego,
California, where she began a 30-day raw food "detox" program. The
program focused on cleansing the body from the inside out and learning a
lifestyle based on uncooked "living foods," including organic fruits,
vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouted grains and juices. Cameras followed
Jenna as she interviewed raw food guru David Wolfe, doctors, celebrities
(Ben Vereen and Kathy Sledge) and others who follow the raw food
lifestyle.
